ITGAL编码整合素αL链。整合素是异源整膜蛋白，由一个α链和一个β链组成。这个含有I结构的α整合素与β2链（ITGB2）结合，形成整合素淋巴细胞功能相关抗原-1（LFA-1），所有白细胞上都表达LFA-1。LFA-1通过与其配体ICAMs 1-3（细胞间粘附分子1-3）相互作用，在白细胞细胞间粘附中发挥核心作用，并参与淋巴细胞共刺激信号传导。已发现这个基因有两个转录变异体，编码不同的异构体。[由RefSeq，2008年7月提供]
