Enables double-stranded RNA binding activity. Involved in several processes, including cellular response to cytokine stimulus; cellular response to exogenous dsRNA; and microglial cell activation. Located in cell surface. Used to study asthma. Biomarker of colitis; pancreatitis; perinatal necrotizing enterocolitis; peripheral nervous system disease; and pre-eclampsia. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including hepatitis B; hepatitis C; human immunodeficiency virus infectious disease; liver cirrhosis; and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
