组蛋白是负责真核生物染色体纤维核小体结构的基本核蛋白。四种核心组蛋白(H2A、H2B、H3和H4)中的每一种都有两个分子,形成一个八聚体,大约146个碱基对的DNA围绕这个八聚体被重复单元,称为核小体包裹。连接组蛋白H1与核小体之间的连接DNA相互作用,并将染色质压缩成更高层次的结构。这个基因编码一个依赖于复制的组蛋白,是组蛋白H2B家族的成员,通过可变剪接、保守的茎环终止基序和polyA添加基序产生多个转录本。[由RefSeq,2015年8月提供]
