Enables DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific; E-box binding activity; and chromatin DNA binding activity. Involved in several processes, including cellular response to estradiol stimulus; positive regulation of cell differentiation; and regulation of muscle adaptation. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including cellular response to lithium ion; cellular response to tumor necrosis factor; and skeletal muscle fiber development. Located in nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; embryo mesenchyme; genitourinary system; and musculature. Orthologous to human MYOG (myogenin).
