Acts upstream of or within cellular response to oxygen-glucose deprivation; renal water absorption; and urea transport. Located in basolateral plasma membrane and cell-cell junction. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; early conceptus; genitourinary system; lateral plate mesoderm; and thymus. Used to study nephrogenic diabetes insipidus.
