The targeting vector was designed to insert Venus yellow fluorescent protein cDNA into the C-terminal of the gene. A loxP-flanked neomycin resistance cassette associated with a Cre auto-excision transgene was inserted upstream of exon 2. This cassette allows the excision of the whole cassette in the chimera's male germ line. (J:335214)
