The targeting vector is designed to insert Venus yellow fluorescent protein cDNA into the C-terminal of the gene. A loxP-flanked neomycin resistance cassette associated with a Cre auto-excision transgene was inserted upstream of exon 4. This cassette allows the excision of the whole cassette in the chimera's male germ line. The endogenous gene is not affected by the insertion of the reporter. (J:335213)
