The transgene insertion contains the following elements: a SacII-SmaI restriction fragment containing sequence downstream of Atoh1 (which includes enhancer Rr387 or E0) where the last ~411 bp (comprising subregion B) were deleted, Hbb basal promoter, the beta-galactosidase reporter gene, and SV40 ploy(A) signal sequences. Reporter gene embryonic expression is abolished in the dorsal neural tube but still present, weakly, in hindbrain. (J:60854)
