IRES sequence, followed by microtubule-associated protein tau sequence coding for the N-terminal bovine MAPT sequence in-frame with the EGFP fluorescent reporter gene coding region, was inserted in the 3' UTR of the Or55b4 gene in BAC RP23-61O11. The BAC was shortened at the 3' end to only include 79 kb sequence upstream of the Or55b4 transcription start site. The BAC also contains class I olfactory receptor olfactory sensory neuron (OSN) enhancer Rr323 (J element), and genes Or55b3, Or55b10, Or52b4j-ps1, Or52b4, Or52b4i, Or52b3, the 3' end of Stim1, Rrm1, and Trim21.
