The pituitary-specific Pomc enhancer/promoter-containing sequence 480 bp upstream of the transcription start site, including the -34 to +63 bp minimal promoter, is used to drive expression of the beta-galactosidase reporter gene. Expression of the transgene is directed to both anterior lobe corticotropes and intermediary lobe melanotropes. (J:329224)
