The pituitary-specific Pomc enhancer-containing sequence 7 kb upstream of the transcription start site, including the -34 to +63 bp minimal promoter, is used to drive expression of the beta-galactosidase reporter gene. Expression of the transgene is preferentially directed to anterior lobe (AL) pituitary corticotropes. (J:329224)
