The transgene insert contains 4 kb sequence upstream of the rat Pomc gene transcription start site plus the first 64 bp of the 5' UTR placed upstream of a beta-galactosidase gene cassette. Around half of the 15 mouse lines showed correct pituitary expression and a similar number showed ectopic expression in the brain. (J:15859)
