Exons 3 to 6 were flanked by loxP sites. An FRT-flanked neomycin selection cassette was inserted in intron 6 before the second loxP site. The presence of the neo-cassette resulted in strongly reduced expression giving rise to a hypomorphic allele. (J:203436)
