A gene trap cassette inserted into exon 2. The full length transcript is not produced in homozygous mutant mice, and antibodies directed against the NH3- or COOH-terminus of the encoded protein confirmed that full length protein was not detectable in brain lysates derived from homozygous mutant mice.
