By homologous recombination in ES cells, exon 1 of the Dmkn gene was flanked by loxP sites. Frt flanked neo cassette was also inserted in between two loxP sites upstream of exon 1. . Exon 1 of the gene is shared by both beta and gamma isoforms. (J:297240)
