The transgene consists of a ~4.5-kb mouse genomic DNA fragment containing the promoter upstream of the ATG translation start codon of a splicing variant of Asic1, ASIC1b to drive the Cre recombinase expression. The whole ASIC1b-CreDNA cassette was flanked by the chicken hypersensitive site 4 (HS4) insulator. Five founder mice were retained for copy number verification and two founder lines bearing a minimum copy transgene were screened. One of the five founder mice showing expression of Cre only in the trigeminal ganglia and DRG but not the brain was used for the study. (J:309655)
