The following elements were inserted into exon 2 (where the endogenous start codon has been removed) of the Tau locus: a loxP site flanked STOP cassette, sequence for the rabies virus glycoprotein, IRES sequence, a nucleus-targeted lacZ gene, and poly(A) signal sequences. Only after cre-mediated removal of the STOP cassette will this allele express the rabies glycoprotein and lacZ genes. (J:306314)
