CRISPR/cas9 genome editing is used to insert a P2A, a FlpO recombinase gene after the last amino acid codon and before the stop codon of Atoh1. The cassette contained a minor mutation at the end of FLPo (the last isoleucine amino acid was changed to a serine), which could have occurred possibly because of an imprecise DNA repair event. But, this amino acid change did not affect the enzymatic function of FLPo. (J:308450)
