Using a BAC with recombineering, the tdTomato red fluorescent protein reporter cDNA was inserted into the 5' end of exon 2, downstream of the translation start site associated with the proximal promoter. The loxP site flanked neomycin resistance gene cassette that was also inserted was removed through subsequent cre-mediated recombination. (J:155097)
