The targeting construct introduced an FRT site, splice acceptor, IRES sequence, lacZ reporter gene, FRT site, and loxP site. An additional loxP site was inserted downstream of exon 8. Flp-mediated recombination removed the reporter/selection cassette and left exon 8 floxed. (J:306377)
