The targeting construct inserted a loxP site upstream of exon 7, a floxed neomycin resistance cassette with a 5 FRT site, IRES, lacZ reporter gene, and FRT were inserted downstream of exon 5. Cre-mediated recombination removed exon 5 through 7 and replaced them with an IRES and lacZ reporter gene. (J:306367)
