A FlpO-lox2722-PGK-Neo-lox2722 cassette was used to replace the coding sequence of the mouse Atoh1 gene, leaving the transcriptional start site intact by homologous recombination in ES cells. The PGK-neo cassette was removed by crossing with cre expressing mouse. (J:268187)
