Tg(Thy1-mEGFP)#Crni

The transgene construct comprises genomic sequence for the mouse Thy1 promoter (270 bp upstream of transcription start), 5' UTR exons and introns and 3' UTR sequences flanking the fluorescent protein gene. The mEGFP gene consists of sequence coding for the first 40 amino acids of the Marcks gene (modified to include palmitoylation sites at residues 3 and 4), which provides plasmalemmal targeting, fused to EGFP gene sequence. This transgene is almost exclusively expressed in the nervous system. (J:135512)
