The targeting construct inserted upstream of exon 2 an FRT site, En2 splice acceptor, IRES sequence, lacZ reporter gene, SV40 polyadenylation sequence, loxP site, neomycin resistance cassette, and loxP site. An additional loxP site was inserted downstream of exon 2. Cre-mediated recombination removed exon 2 along with the reporter and selection cassettes. (J:297104)
