Cre-mediated recombination in the germline resulted in the deletion of a 2.5 kb genomic region, which is expected to result in deletion of 661 amino acids encoding the N-terminal caspase recruitment domain (also known as CARD) and the central nucleotide-binding domain (also known as NACHT) of the encoded protein.
