The modified chicken beta-actin promoter (CAG) was used to drive ubiquitous expression of a floxed LacZ gene with a triple polyadenylation signal sequence followed by an IRES sequence and the EGFP coding sequence and a poly(A) signal. This allele expresses the beta-galactosidase gene. Only after cre-mediated removal of the LacZ gene will it express the EGFP fluorescent marker gene. (J:109498)
