The transgenic construct contains a modified DsRed2-IRES2-EGFP under the control of the mouse Thy1 (thymus cell antigen 1, theta) gene promoter. DsRed2 is flanked by an endoplasmic reticulum (ER) targeting sequence and a KDEL ER retention signal that targets fluorescent expression to the neuronal ER. The EGFP is expressed in the cytoplasm.
