The coding exon 3 of the gene is flanked by loxP sites at the 5' end and a second loxP insertion at downstream of the stop codon so that Cre-mediated recombination will produce a deletion of entire coding region and splicing site. An frt-flanked neomycin selection cassette was removed via Flp-mediated recombination in the germline. (J:278651)
