The first exon and about 2.6 kb of upstream sequence (containing the start code) were replaced with a PGK-Neo-cassette via homologous recombination. Immunohistochemical staining confirmed the absence of protein expression in the hippocampus of adult homozygous mutant mice. (J:274122)
