The transgene was designed with a 1.4 kb mouse Atoh1 3' enhancer (and a beta-globin minimal promoter) sequence upstream of an Flp sequence optimized for translation in mammalian cells (Flpo) joined to the ERT2 mutated estrogen receptor ligand-binding domain by the linker sequence from the Flpe/ERT2 cassette.
