The chromosome region containing the second, third, and fourth exons of the gene, which ranged from the initiation codon ATG to an EcoRV site just after the fourth exon, was replaced bya 2.5-kb DNA fragment containing the EGFP gene and a loxP-flanked neomycin resistance cassette. No detectable wild type transcript is expressed from this allele. EGFP is expressed under the control of the endogenous gene promoter. (J:274653)
