Homologous recombination with a targeting vector removed 365 bp containing Cd4 maturation enhancer E4m in Cd4 intron 1 and inserted a loxP site flanked neomycin resistance gene cassette upstream of neighboring Cd4 silencer S4 (Rr96). The neo cassette was removed through subsequent cre-mediated recombination. (J:267930)
