In the transgene construct the mutagenized mouse cerebellin 4 precursor protein cDNA was inserted into a unique BamHI site in exon 4 of the mouse Purkinje cell protein 2 (L7) gene that had its ATG start site inactivated, thus placing the inserted gene effectively under control of the promoter of the host gene without expressing the host peptide. The cDNA was mutated to change asparagine codon 26 to glutamine (p.Asn26Gln). The copy number is estimated by qPCR to be around 7. (J:269669)
