The mouse promoter drives neuronal expression of a fusion gene expressing the EYFP yellow fluorescent protein fused to the N-terminus of difopein (a dimeric-Ywhaq-inhibitor). Transgene expressing line 132, with expression in a large population of pyramidal neurons in the CA1 subregion of the hippocampus but expression in only a fraction of the CA3 neurons, was chosen for further study.
