The transgene consists of the human gene, including promoter, contained within a 10 kb genomic fragment. The gene was modified through the addition of the last 21 bp of the human LHB (luteinizing hormone beta) gene to the end of the cioding region in exon 3. This sequence codes for a C-terminal heptapeptide that promotes secretion of the heterodimer (with this allele: Cga-FSHB) via the regulated pathway in heterologous somatotrope cells. (J:208630)
