LoxP sites were inserted upstream of exon 1 and into intron 2. An FRT site flanked neomycin resistance gene cassette that was also inserted was removed through subsequent flp-mediated recombination. This leaves a conditional-ready allele with exon 1 floxed. (J:246169)
