The alpha-MHC promoter drives the expression of the PKA-Calpha cDNA. Overexpression of the catalytic subunit results in constitutive activation of the enzyme without a requirement for cAMP. Assays for activity in heart extracts show that Prkaca activity is elevated 2.4-fold in line 33. (J:263774)
