The transgene contains a 1.0-kb human peroxisome proliferator activated receptor delta (PPARD) cDNA under control of the promoter of the myosin, heavy polypeptide 6, cardiac muscle, alpha (Myh6) gene. Expression of the transgene was detected only in the heart. Northern blot analysis of RNA isolated from hearts of 8-week-old mice of this transgenic line revealed transgene-derived mRNA levels ~20-fold the endogenous levels. (J:130750)
