The human keratin 14 (KRT14) promoter drives the expression of a chimeric gene consisting of both cDNA and genomic sequences encoding latent membrane protein 2A (LMP2A) of Epsterin Barr Virus (EBV). Epithelial expression of LMP2A was demonstrated by immunoblot analysis of protein from dorsal skin of mice of transgenic line 102. Indirect immunofluorescence imaging showed expression of LMP2A and of endogenous keratin 14 to be localized to the basal level of the developing epidermis in both tail skin and tongue epithelia.
