The transgene consists of the CAG promoter consisting of a cytomegalovirus enhancer and a chicken beta-actin promoter, a loxP flanked chloramphenicol acetyl-transferase (cat) reporter gene with stop codons at the 3' end and human 15-lipoxygenase-1 cDNA. In the absence of Cre-recombination, the CAG promoter drives the expression of the cat reporter gene but not ALOX15. When Cre-mediated recombination removes the floxed cat reporter, CAG drives the expression of human ALOX15. Three lines were established: 1857, 1863, 1868. (J:114903)
