The rat insulin 2 promoter drives the expression of the human amylin/islet amyloid polypeptide cDNA. Southern blotting indicates that hemizygous mice have approximately 36 +/-7 copies of the transgene. Northern blot analysis from various organs confirmed pancreas-specific expression of RNA transcripts. (J:142009)
