LoxP sites were inserted to flank exon 1. A neomycin selection cassette was inserted into intron 1, downstream of the loxP site. Cre-mediated recombination resulted in the deletion of exon 1. Western blot analysis of whole brain lysates showed that no detectable protein is expressed from this allele. (J:249700)
