The transgene contains the bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) with an IRES and cre recombinase gene inserted between the termination codon and the polyadenylation sequence. Four independent lines expressed the Cre transgene appropriately in kidney and lung and labelled equivalent populations of taste cells.
