The human gene ligated to a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor is under the control of the alpha myosin heavy chain promoter. The GPI anchors the LPL to the cardiomyocyte surface. Northern blot analysis confirmed high expression of the transgene only in the heart. Hearts, but not post-heparin plasma, contains human lipoprotein lipase activity. Three lines were generated; 346, 357, and 358. (J:134550)
