The third coding exon (also known as exon 4) was removed. Recombination removed the selection cassette. Deletion of exon 3 generates a frameshift after 5% of the coding sequence (149 aa) giving rise to a constitutive knock-out. Immunoblot analysis shows that protein is undetectable in brain and kidney.
