The transgene comprises a 60-kb DNA fragment containing the bovine prion protein gene (PRNP) (GenBank: AJ298878) derived from clone D18330 of bovine bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) library 750 from the German Resource Center for Genome Research (RZPD, Resourcenzentrum Primrdatenbank). Mice bearing this transgene express bovine prion protein from its own promoter in brain and other tissues. (J:82809, J:232471)
