A loxP site was inserted upstream of exon 1'. A floxed neomycin resistance cassette was inserted downstream of exon 10. Cre-mediated recombination removed exon 1' through exon 10. Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of protein expression in lungs and aortic vascular smooth muscle cells. (J:223628)
