The transgenic insert contains enhanced cyan fluorescent protein (ECFP) under the control of the mouse Col2a1 promoter and enhancer. Transgene expression is detected as early as E10.5 in developing somites, brachial arch 1, and craniofacial primordia on the ventral forebrain. By E12.5, expression is found in developing axial and appendicular skeleton (ears, ribs, vertebrae, and long bones), sites of chondrocyte condensation. At E17.5, ECFP is detected in the ears and cranial base, ventral rib cage, and the proximal and distal ends of long bones. (J:180931)
