An 8.5 kb portion of the calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II-alpha promoter containing upstream control regions and the transcriptional initiation site drives the expression of a human wild-type tau cDNA in forebrain neurons. Western blot confirmed expression in the brain and that tau becomes hyperphosphorylated with increasing age. (J:172762)
