This transgene contains a tetracycline responsive element, comprising seven tandem copies of the tetracycline operator (tetO), driving bidirectional expression of beta-galactosidase (from the lacZ gene) with a nuclear localization signal and of a green fluorescent protein/rat glutamate receptor, ionotropic, AMPA2 (alpha 2) (GFP/Gria2) fusion protein; the GFP coding sequence is preceded by the signal sequence of the Drosophila cuticle protein C3 and the Myc epitope tag.
